Taking place on the beautiful island of South Uist, in the Western Isles, Ceòlas offers tuition in piping, fiddling, singing, Scotch reels and Quadrilles, step dancing and the Gaelic language. South Uist is a Gaelic-speaking community and there are few places better suited to put your Gaelic into practice than this small island, which has many bonuses including beautiful beaches and stunning scenic walks. Add all this to the fact that the locals are friendly and enthusiastic, and enjoy nothing more than a good ceidhlidh, no matter what your tastes are, you are bound to have a fantastic time!
As far as tuition is concerned, those taking part will be taught by some of the biggest and best names from Scottish music and dance. For song, expect to see names such as Mairi MacInnes, Gillebride MacMillan, Maighread Stewart, Rona Lightfoot & Catriona Garbutt! Other classes will also be taught by some world-class names, such as Fin Moore, Allan MacDonald, and Frank McConnell.
This fantastic week of Music, dance and Gaelic banter will be held 4th-9th July. The summer months will hopefully provide some good weather, but no matter what, you can be sure that there will be an atmosphere to rival any large festival!
