Entertainment

Traditionally entertainment in the Gaelic speaking communities has been based in the home, where the house cèilidh would have been filled with song, dance, storytelling and lot of fun. Today however, Gaelic-related entertainment has massively evolved and is making an appearance in the form of Gaelic TV, internet sites, radio and even mobile phone applications.

Bodies such as MG ALBA and Radio nan Gàidheal have brought Gaelic programming to an entirely new level to inform, educate and amuse the tens of thousands of Gaelic speakers in Scotland and to bring Gaelic to an entirely new, large global audience.

As Gaelic entertainment continues to grow to meet demand, there is something out there for everyone. For fluent speakers, learners and those who know next to nothing about Gaelic, there is something to suit you. The quality of online and television activity can also be appreciated by those who simply take pleasure in good quality programming, with many programs available with subtitles.
