This is a new competition where we are asking you: What does Gaelic mean to you? We want you to give us an answer in around 50 words.
The competition is open to everyone; it doesn’t matter whether you are a fluent speaker, learner or if you don’t have a word of Gaelic. What we want is to hear your story: how you perceive Gaelic or what it means to you.
You may not have any Gaelic. It might be that mygaelic.com is your first introduction to Gaelic, and that you are, only now, discovering the language and its culture. You might have a few words of Gaelic, or have learnt some Gaelic at school. You may have heard Gaelic on television or radio, or maybe you just really enjoy Gaelic music.
You may be learning the language, or thinking about learning. Your answer could focus on why you are learning or thinking about learning. There is no wrong answer. Everyone has their own experiences to draw on and their own idea of what Gaelic means to them. You may be from a Gaelic-speaking home. You may be a fluent speaker. How does Gaelic shape your life, and how is it important?
It doesn’t matter what your background is with the language, or how fluent you are. What matters is what Gaelic means to you. Tell us, we want to know!
