The Technology
This site was custom developed in PHP5 using: the excellent CakePHP framework; some of the Zend framework; SimpleTest test framework and JQuery Javascript framework. The site is deployed through subversion, capistrano and liquibase. Multi-lingual functionality is handled with a combination of custom written code, poEdit and gettext. The site runs under Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The site was developed primarily on Ubuntu Linux. Development was made considerably easier with the use of ActiveState Komodo and Xdebug.
