About meAbout me
I work with CNSA setting up Gaelic-medium pre-school groups and TIP Gaelic courses for adults.
One of my main interests is to find out what cutting edge developments are taking place, in minority language action-research both at national and local levels throughout the world. In particular in the fields related to language acquisition in the total immersion arena with regard to both adults and pre-school children.
If a child of 3 years can be brought to speaking Hawaiian in 8 to 15 weeks who comes from an English speaking home there. Why can the same not occur with children learning Gaelic in Scotland?
So many minority languages based in native communities throughout the Pacific Rim are years ahead of us in finding solutions to their problems. It is my hope we can find Scottish solutions for problems that befall us in Scotland.
Finally, it is clear to me that adults can learn to speak and converse in Gaelic much, much faster given the appropriate learning environment than any child.
